Don’t Think NOW…Reflect Later

SARK says, try more things without thinking so much about them.

Here’s a list I came up with:

Writing

Calling an old friend

Asking a new friend to coffee

Randomly pull things from your fridge to make a soup

Start a blog

Start a diet

Share a journal

Volunteer!

Try a new restaurant

Write a poem

Compliment that stranger

Write about that thing

Steal a kiss

Hit SEND/Publish/Post/Call/Reply

Host a theme party

Sign up for something

Say YES!

Tell the truth

Register for Zumba

Watch a foreign movie

Speak up among friends

Speak up among co-workers

Invest in yourself

See & follow the signs

What am I doing w/o thinking? PUBLISH NOW!

(How about you??)

Developing a Business, a Beachbody and Bliss

NaNo for me was a Big. Fat. Fail.

However, I have been busy and no, not just procrastinating…

First off, I said I was working on a big project. That is still in the development phase, soon-to-be implemented. Stay Tuned!   >so excited<

Secondly, I started a little side business.  Yes, it’s legal. Sheesh!  Ever hear of Team Beachbody? A Beachbody, I do not have. Although, I’m working on it, and helping others achieve their goal of fitness, too. As a writer, I sit most days for, well, all day. No longer, people!  I’m up and moving and feeling energetic, positive and sassy (I know, I didn’t help with that last one.) As a Beachbody Coach, I provide motivation, accountability and access to some pretty freakin cool workout programs and nutrition products.  And I walk the talk. Interested in learning more? Come check me out: http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/coachmaryjo

Thirdly, and most excitingly, I have negotiated a 4-day work week. SQUEE! (“Think of all the activities we can do – so many activities!”) That’s right, one day a week, I have the solitude and utter bliss of writing, reading and researching ALL DAY Long, or at least till the Junior High bus returns home.

As we move through this wintry and festive month, let’s begin to recall our accomplishments from 2011 and begin thinking of our Theme Word for 2012. (more on this later…)

In the meantime, hit me up! Tell me how NaNo went (or didn’t) for you, what your holiday plans are and how you’re going to stay faithful to your writing goals.

commit to 3

First, Accountability…

Last week I committed to:

  1. Bake cookies for teachers of KidsClub (deliver Wednesday) – decided against this, since the tray of cookies would be clamored up by 1st-4th graders and that wouldn’t help anyone!
  2. Complete Exercises from Ch 1 of Beginnings, Middles & Ends by Nancy Kress (use as Reader Wednesdays post in the future.) complete! (mostly)
  3. Phone call with (possible) new personal trainer – learn about her plan and rates – make decision (excited, scared!) complete! I’ve signed up for Team Beachbody on-line and will begin my personal training a week from today. Very excited to finally have direction – and accountability!

Salary:  2 hrs of uninterrupted reading time on Sunday (to catch up on FREE ebooks & workbooks  by Jonathon Mead) Instead, I rewarded myself with 2 solid hours of reading Jillian Michaels’ Unlimited. Fantastic book – highly recommended

How did you do last week? Complete the 3 goals you set for yourself?

This week, I commit to:

  1. Read & provide feedback on crit partner’s 1st chapter & send her latest version of my novel’s Ch 1
  2. 100 crunches 6x and 30 min walk after dinner 5x
  3. Review notes on novel-in-progress, write next scene

Salary:  Practice Lesson 1 of Rosetta Stone- Italian (library loan)

Baby steps, just pick 3. Share them here for accountability. (ha, I’m a poet!)
