What does being a writer make you?

I recently read an inspiring interview on Wow! Women on Writing Blog, where Rachel McClain, who won 3rd place honors in the WOW! Women on Writing Spring Flash Fiction contest, gives her insight on being a mom and a writer:

I waited my whole life to meet my son. I can’t put it more simply than that. But, I also didn’t realize that I waited my whole life to meet the person that being a writer has made me.” (from Wow! 10/14/08 interview: )

So, it made me think…what kind of person am I as a writer?

I’m:

  • happy
  • excited
  • content
  • passionate
  • an observer
  • a lover of words
  • a teacher
  • a student
  • a researcher
  • sometimes depressed
  • persistent
  • discouraged
  • brave
  • funny

And the list goes on…

I’m curious – what does being a writer make you?

  1. Neurotic mostly. I’m so anal sometimes about grammar and finding just the right words! But mostly, I’d say persistent and content.
